Hello I’m Lauren Clark, a Contemporary Fine Artist based in Somerset, England.
My work explores themes of place, time and lived experiences through painting and an expanding street art practice. Rooted in drawing, I work across both studio and public settings, incorporating elements of collage, layering and visual illusion. By merging realism and abstraction, I create illusory compositions that blur the boundary between the recognisable and the imagined.
I am particularly interested in how environments hold memory and meaning, and how subtle shifts in perception can transform the familiar into something unexpected.
After completing both my undergraduate and masters degrees in Fine art, I have continued to develop my art practice. Taking part in the Scale-Up programme with Weston Wallz marked an important step into mural making, opening up new ways of thinking about scale, surface and audience. Working on a larger scale has become an exciting direction in my practice , allowing me to explore illusion and distortion in a more playful and immersive way.
I won the PJ Crook Arts Award for Outstanding Work in 2019, and I have exhibited as part of a collective of artists called O.W.N. In 2022 I was the supported artist of the year at Sixteen gallery in cheltenham, at the end of the year I had a solo exhibition. More recently my practice has evolved toward murals and street art, where I’m actively building my presence and exploring larger scale, public-facing work. This direction allows me to engage with a wider audience and bring my work into public spaces in a more immediate and accessible way.
Stay up to date on new work, follow along on Instagram where I post work in progress, upcoming showcases and finished projects.
